Send clear views of the affected roof area and any indoor stains, damp or signs of a leak.
Video around the property
Views from ground level help us understand the building, access and whether scaffolding may be needed.
Loft and existing information
If safely accessible, include loft photos showing roof timbers and the underside of the roof, including any visible membrane or felt. Existing surveys or roof information are useful too.
From your evidence to a report and quote
We review your uploads and available property information linked to your address, consider the visible roof condition and access requirements, and explain our findings in your Cloud Roof Report. The aim is to provide a clear online quotation where the evidence allows. If something is missing, we will request further information before completing the assessment.
Thinking about solar panels?
Ask us to include an initial solar-readiness review of your roof. We will highlight visible roof-condition concerns and explain any further checks needed before installation. This is an initial review, not structural approval for a solar installation.

Based on our own assessments, we estimate that 80–90% of roof issues can be assessed remotely when sufficient photographic and video evidence is available.
Hidden defects, structural condition and some causes of leaks may still require physical checks or an in-person inspection. We will explain when remote evidence is not enough for a reliable quotation.

1. Kerry’s concern
Kerry, from East Devon, was gathering several quotes for her guttering and felt unsure about which option to choose. She had been told the existing wooden gutters were rotten and needed to be completely removed and replaced. She sent us photographs through WhatsApp and shared her address so we could look at the property, understand her concerns and discuss an alternative.
2. How we assessed the work
We reviewed Kerry’s photographs and asked follow-up questions about the work she wanted. We explained our proposal to retain the existing wooden guttering and fit new uPVC guttering over it at the front and rear of the house. Using her address, we checked the property on Google Earth and estimated the measurements remotely. Based on our practical experience, we allow an estimated measurement margin of around 5–7% when using this approach.
3. A fixed price and her decision
Once we had reviewed the photos, discussed the proposed work and estimated the measurements, we emailed Kerry a fixed-price quotation. This set out our proposed approach so she could compare it with the other quotes she had received and decide what suited her. After considering her options, Kerry chose Cloud Roofing to carry out the work.

1. What the customer sent
The customer reported water leaking through and around the chimney and wanted the remaining stack removed. They submitted a description through our online form, together with exterior photographs and loft-side views of the chimney.

We reviewed the visible chimney and loft evidence, then asked for an extra photograph down the side of the house to help assess space for a scaffold tower. The photos helped us consider the likely work and access needs; tower suitability and safe support still needed confirmation before work started.
3. Clear advice to help them decide
The report set out a proposed scope for removing the external chimney stack and making the roof watertight, subject to checks on the flue and remaining masonry. It included an indicative £1,800–£2,600 guide for this case—not a fixed quotation—and explained the checks a contractor would need to complete.

Some problems need more than photographs. An in-person inspection is useful for hard-to-trace leaks, suspected hidden damage, concerns about the roof structure and tricky repairs that need closer investigation.
A closer inspection and moisture checks where appropriate help us investigate the cause. We assess accessible areas and explain any further investigation needed, so we can quote with a clearer scope.

Are all four assessments free?
Yes. Our Remote Review, Cloud Roof Report, In-Person Inspection and Basic Drone Inspection are free, with no obligation to commission repair work. The free basic drone inspection is available across Devon. A detailed professional drone survey is a separate paid service, with scope and pricing agreed in advance.
Can you quote from my photographs?
Sometimes. Clear photographs and videos may give us enough evidence to quote remotely. If they do not, we will ask for more information or explain why a visit or further checks are needed.
How do the two remote options differ?
The Remote Review gives initial guidance from a few photographs and your description. The Cloud Roof Report uses fuller evidence to produce a digital roof report and work towards an online quotation where possible.
Do I need to be at home?
The remote options need no visit. For a basic drone inspection you usually do not need to be present if access is agreed. An in-person inspection may require access to the property or loft; we will arrange this with you.
Can you check solar readiness?
Yes. Ask for an initial solar-readiness review with your Cloud Roof Report. We explain visible concerns and further checks required. A remote review cannot confirm hidden condition or provide structural approval for installation.
What happens after I send the form?
We review your chosen service, property details and evidence, then contact you with guidance, a request for more information or arrangements for a visit. Where the evidence allows, we provide a quotation. You decide whether to proceed.
